Playing the cards I'm dealt with...

Recently, I've been looking at other opportunities mainly because of my monthly salary. At 275,000 yen per month, it's sufficient for a single guy, but for a guy who's married this just simply isn't enough.

Upon returning from my wedding trip, I got a call from my friend who's currently a business development manager for a well-known company. He wants me to join his team, due to the past success of our teamwork from the previous company. So, I went to his company to have a talk with his superior and everything went well. After meeting with another member of the team, things were looking really positive and I've been waiting for the final meeting to take place.

...And here's where it gets dicey. I've been waiting for the meeting to be scheduled for almost a month now, but still no word from that company. One of my sources told me now that it's undergoing major restructuring, which doesn't bode well.

Oh well...no matter then. Just as the title says, "I'm just playing the cards that I'm dealt with."

You and Herman should get together and start your own brand of eikaiwa or do some sort of business...

I agree, though it's not the right timing yet. Although the job isn't paying me enough, I'm still learning a lot about finance. And, as a matter of fact, I successfully negotiated a pay raise today with the big boss. Our local boss is basically like George Mason while the big boss from NYC is like Ryan Chappelle. Luckily, division's on my side this time, haha!
