The prodigal son returns...

I'm back after a big ass hiatus away from blogging. I'm pretty sure I don't have many readers if any at all, but I do want to apologize to those who actually do read my blog (wow, you guys must REALLY be bored if you do...j/k). Anyways, there are 2 reasons for not blogging in such a long time.

1. I realized that I morphed into the T.O. of my previous job by blogging my complaints about the job non-stop. -my apologies to the gang in Osaka!

2. I have been just way too damn busy at my new job, averaging 11 - 12 hours a day on the job.

There. Now with that out of the way, time for an update...

-As I'm pretty sure you all know, I've moved to Tokyo in December. It is a bit strange to keep the "bostonian in osaka" title for this blog, but that's where my heart will always be in regards to places in Japan. Tokyo is a great place too, but I started out in Osaka and managed to do well there starting from scratch. All the friends that I've made there, all the experiences, it's all very important to me. Anyway, I'm leaving the title the way it is...

-The new job that I have now is headhunting/recruiting. Really cool job, very aggressive atmosphere. Surprisingly, it actually fits me pretty well and I'm really enjoying the pace of the job.

-Places I've visited since coming to Tokyo: Kamakura and Hakone. Kamakura was very very nice. The atmosphere felt a lot like Nara, lots of trees and fresh air. No deer though. Hakone was also very nice. Lots of onsens there and a really great soba restaurant.

-Moment that made me realize I missed something. One of my students sent me an email recently saying that she graduated. She said that while she was happy to graduate, she was also sad to leave the school. Upon reading this, I felt extremely proud that she graduated and is going on to college soon, and I also realized that I miss those kids at my high school. After investing so much time with them, I really did think of them as my own kids.

-Moment that made me realize that Rick Pitino was not the worst GM of our time: Isiah Thomas, thank you so much for toppling the Ricktator! Man, trading away the expiring contract of Penny Hardaway, Trevor Ariza, and a future 1st round draft pick for Steve Francis?! Think of the drama! Francis and Marbury having feuds as to who should be shooting the ball, Larry Brown's head potentially exploding, Penny getting reunited with the very coach he got fired in the first place -Brian Hill! I guess the Celtics aren't so bad after all!
